Chapter 12: Ares
I hummed. Smiling, I noted the scientist fatal flaw. He left the cage door ajar, and even with it locked I threw it open easily. A broke into a sprint through the hallway, covering more distance quicker. Sadly, I wasn’t watching where I was going. A sickening thud sounded off as me as me and Ethan collided. Ethan swung around wildly, his fist connecting with my nose. Piercing pain shot through my face. Some more punches and I was barely able to whisper
“Ethan, it’s me!”
“Dude! Totally not cool!” he said, wiping away a little stream of blood from his lip. My eye was swelling shut at this moment, and my nose was gushing blood, not to mention broken.
“I’m sorry.” he whispered.
“No sweat.” I managed a smile to feel pain in my nose again. Then a new voice joined in the conversation
“Well, well, well, looky what we have here. Now Ares, no of us thought you were so strong. Considering that was three double steel locks you busted. You passed the assessment test! Ethan shows remarkable reaction rates and resourcefulness. You boys come with me.”
I snorted “you really think that’s going to happen?” I asked.
“I have a hunch.” he took out two tazer guns and pointed one at each. Ethan put his hands up and said “you win” We walked down a metal hallway with guns pointed at our back until we came to a steel door. The scientist punched in a code and the door opened. From then on a felt like a science experiment which I guess I was. Seven different lab coated workers were working on me, not including the one that kept yanking on my hair. Ethan looked in a similar situation. One scientist was at my wrist, injecting me with different chemicals. Another was in my face testing seeing, hearing, and smells. That particularly disturbed me, not to mention when he put a sock under my nose as a ‘test’. One female scientist was, I am ashamed to admit, working on my feet. She took samples or flesh, and clipping of toenails. (Which I am beside myself wondering why they want theses things) A hooded figure stood by my chest testing breathing and heart rate. One in the far corner was taking notes. I would’ve sworn the fifth scientist was trying to brush my teeth and pierce my tongue. The sixth figure was another female, and was talking into a microphone her mouth as she yanked on my hair. And the last pierced my ear with this white chip. He smiled at me, and then took the fifth scientists places at my mouth. I felt horrible tugging on my back permeate molar. Then a sickening pop followed by him exclaiming “gotcha!” He pressed a new metal replacement in its place along with some kind of water resistant glue.
Finally they finished. Ethan and I were chained to the walls of a back cell.
“Will deal with you two in the morning.” the guy grunted as he slammed the cell and locked what sounded like 13 different locks. Ethan had a similar tooth implant as a pierced ear tag. Food was sitting in trays in our reach, and like idiots we ate it. Only realizing it was drugged when we fell into the most sudden sleep ever.
