Chapter 5: Kage
The only thing I could think of was to run.
Get everybody as far away as possible.
But was anywhere truly safe?
If the scientists had found us with no help now who was to say they couldn’t do it again?
I shook my head to clear my thoughts, if at least for a little while. I couldn’t look hesitant in front of the others. However, they all were slowing down. Adara had spent all day honing her powers so I could understand why she might be tired, but I couldn’t seem to figure out a rational explanation as to why everybody else was tired. They had been inside all day! Regardless, I ran ahead to look for somewhere to hide for the night or at least until everybody regained their strength. I turned into a wolf and sniffed out a cave. Very spacious and surprisingly warm but hovering above it were the ruins of a human building. There wasn’t any human scent though, so it was safe. I ran back to the others “I found somewhere we can stay for the night. We can rest until everybody regains their energy.” I was swiftly met by a chorus of voices telling me how they weren’t tired and how they could go on for hours. "Look guys I’m not stupid. We should at least stay for a few hours to rest. Otherwise we’ll pass out somewhere and be taken by the scientists. Do you want that instead?” As expected, I was met by a chorus of “no’s” and while leading the way to the cave muttered to myself. “I didn’t think so.”
